COMMUNITY CARE

Sisters Dialogue sends out community care packages to Muslim women and youth going through challenges as well as wins because being seen is important to one's healing.

HEALING CIRCLES

education and awareness

We hold regular healing circles for different groups of Muslim women, youth, and those from under-represented communities as part of our approach to community care. We believe in creating curated spaces where participants can be their authentic selves, to learn, grow, heal and resonate with one another. We include creative modalities like playback theatre and art therapy, to explore new ways of healing. Our circles are facilitated by professional therapists who are culturally responsive.

Sisters Dialogue is committed to creating platforms that inform, challenge, and inspire. We actively work to raise awareness, and foster understanding. Our anti-racism and family violence workshops engage participants in impactful conversations about systemic issues and their effects.

The "Muslim Women Tell It As It Is" awareness campaign amplified the voices and experiences of Muslim women, showcasing their stories and diverse identities through engaging mediums such as photography, and theater.

BRIDGE-BUILDING

SAFETY & WELL-BEING

Bridge-building with Indigenous groups, allies, and other equity-seeking communities is a continuous commitment for Sisters Dialogue. We believe true empowerment comes from collaboration, shared understanding, and mutual support. By fostering partnerships and dialogue, we stand in solidarity against systemic injustices and create spaces that honor the voices of all under-represented groups.

SAFETY & WELL-BEING

In 2021, Sisters Dialogue pioneered the Edmonton SafeWalk initiative (in collaboration with the EFCL) aimed at building relationships and community connections- while walking!

The pilot program has ended and we hope to expand the program in the future.

In February 2025, we opened up a community hub called Amanah - A Safer Space for Muslim Women and Youth, to ensure that they feel safer, valued, and supported in this city.

ENGAGEMENT AND ADVOCACY

Sisters Dialogue actively engages with diverse communities and decision-makers across all levels of government to amplify the needs and stories of Muslim women and youth. Our advocacy is non-partisan, focused on equity, safety, and culturally relevant support.

We ensure that our voices are heard by providing valuable insights through ongoing community consultations.

As Muslim women, we are guided by our faith to uphold justice, compassion, and solidarity. As Treaty people, we commit to walking alongside First Nations and Métis communities in pursuit of equity and a just future for all.
