Sisters Dialogue sends out community care packages to Muslim women and girls going through challenges as well as wins because being seen is important to one's healing.
We hold regular healing circles for different groups of Muslim women and those from under-represented communities as part of our approach to community care. We believe in creating curated spaces where participants can be their authentic selves, to learn, grow, heal and resonate with one another. We include creative modalities like playback theatre and art therapy, to explore new ways of healing. Our circles are facilitated by professional therapists who are culturally-safe.
Sisters Dialogue is committed to creating platforms that inform, challenge, and inspire. We actively work to raise awareness, and foster understanding. Our anti-racism workshops engage participants in deep, impactful conversations about systemic racism and its effects.
The "Muslim Women Tell It As It Is" awareness campaign amplified the voices and experiences of Muslim women, showcasing their stories and diverse identities through engaging mediums such as photography, and theater.
Bridge-building with Indigenous groups, allies, and other equity-seeking communities is a continuous commitment for Sisters Dialogue. We believe true empowerment comes from collaboration, shared understanding, and mutual support. By fostering partnerships and dialogue, we stand in solidarity against systemic injustices and create spaces that honor the voices of all under-represented groups.
The Edmonton SafeWalk initiative (in collaboration with the EFCL) aimed at building relationships and community connections- while walking!
The pilot program has ended. We hope to expand the program in the future and would love to hear from you.
Sisters Dialogue actively engages with diverse communities and decision-makers from all levels of government to amplify and center the needs and stories of Muslim women and girls. We ensure that our voices are heard by providing valuable insights through ongoing community consultations. We aim to bridge the gap between policy and lived experiences, fostering change that truly reflects the needs of our community.
At Sisters Dialogue, we acknowledge and recognize ourselves as Treaty people. We are deeply committed to advocating for justice and safety on traditional Treaty 6 territory and the North Saskatchewan River territory. This land has long been a gathering place for the Cree, Blackfoot, Saulteaux, Métis, and other Indigenous peoples. As Muslim women, we are inspired by our faith to uphold principles of justice, compassion, and solidarity. As Treaty people, we pledge to work in solidarity with First Nations and Métis communities towards an equitable and just future for all. Our dedication to these principles guides our actions and efforts as we strive to honor, learn from, and build relationships with the Indigenous peoples of this land.
